Key Stage 4 & 5
Key Stage Four and Five
Welcome to Key Stage Four at The British School of Egypt! This stage marks the true beginning of the IGCSE program, where students have the exciting opportunity to choose from a variety of subjects tailored to their interests and strengths. Through thorough consultations involving parents, students, and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) members, we ensure that each student selects the subjects best suited for their academic success and personal growth.
We offer a mix of different examination boards to provide the highest quality education and the best possible outcomes for our students. Our aim is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their chosen subjects, preparing them for the next stage of their education and beyond. We are committed to fostering an environment of academic excellence and holistic development, setting a strong foundation for future success.
By the end of Key Stage Five, our students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, whether it’s pursuing higher education, entering the workforce, or exploring other pathways.

How Parents Can Make a Difference
Parents are their child’s first teachers. By actively engaging in their child’s education, you can significantly impact their success. Show interest in their studies, offer support and encouragement, and create a positive learning environment at home. Effective communication with the school is also key. By working together, we can help your child reach their full potential.
Remember, your involvement makes a difference!
Curriculum
Our curriculum benefits from the synergy of renowned examination boards, including Edexcel, Cambridge, and Oxford. This diverse approach ensures our students receive a world-class education.
Compulsory Subjects
English O Level and Mathematics are fundamental to a well-rounded education, and therefore, compulsory for all Year 10 students. Beyond these core subjects, students have the flexibility to select from a variety of subject blocks, allowing them to tailor their learning paths to their individual strengths and aspirations.
Optional Subjects
Key Stage Four offers a diverse range of optional subjects allowing students to explore their interests and talents. From languages and humanities to sciences and arts, the curriculum caters to individual aspirations. Students carefully select subjects that align with their career goals and personal passions, creating a personalized learning journey.
At Key Stage Five, students build upon their IGCSE foundation by specializing in a smaller number of subjects. This in-depth study prepares them for higher education or vocational paths.
Assessments
IGCSE examinations are a collaborative effort between our school and the British Council. This rigorous assessment system ensures global standards are upheld, providing students with a globally recognized qualification. Examinations are conducted under controlled conditions to maintain fairness and integrity.
